Payments and Credits

This guide explains how payments work on Pickle, when charges are applied, the different ways you can pay, and how Pickle Credits and Account Balance work.

Updated today

1. Payment Methods You Can Use

You can pay on Pickle using:

  • Credit or debit card

  • Apple Pay

  • Pickle Credits

  • Your Pickle Account Balance

When using a card or Apple Pay for the first time, Stripe securely stores your information for future use. Your card details are never stored directly by Pickle.

2. When Your Card Is Charged

Your card is not charged immediately when you submit an offer. Here is how billing works:

  • When you submit an offer, a temporary authorization hold is placed on your card β€” this is not a charge. You are only charged if the Owner or Seller accepts. If the offer expires, is declined, or is canceled, the hold is released automatically.

  • If you see two charges on your bank statement, one is the real charge and one is the temporary hold. The hold will disappear on its own, usually within a few hours depending on your bank. You do not need to contact Support if this happens β€” it will resolve itself. If it has not cleared after a few days, contact your bank directly.

Holds normally disappear within a few hours depending on your bank.

3. Pickle Credits

Pickle Credits can be applied toward:

  • Rental offers

  • Purchases

  • Delivery costs

Credits are issued in situations such as:

  • Approved fit refunds

  • Promotional credits from Pickle

How credits work:

  • Credits apply at checkout when you choose to use them and deduct from the total amount due

  • Credits cannot be converted to cash

  • Pickle Credits do expire depending on the type of credit β€” you will receive a notification one week before your credits are set to expire

Where to find your credits: Your Pickle Credits balance is displayed in green just above the My Closet tab at the bottom of the app. If you have a balance it will always be visible there.

4. Your Pickle Account Balance

Your Account Balance is separate from Pickle Credits and includes:

  • Rental earnings

  • Sale earnings

  • Replacement or damage reimbursements

  • Promotional payouts from Pickle

You can:

  • Use your balance to rent or buy items on Pickle

  • Cash out to your bank account through Stripe

Where to find your balance: Tap your profile in the app and select Account Balance & History to view your full balance and transaction history.

5. Refund Timing

If you receive a refund:

  • Pickle Credits appear instantly in your balance

  • Account Balance refunds appear instantly

  • Card refunds take 5–10 business days depending on your bank or card provider

If your refund has been approved but has not yet appeared on your card, allow time for your bank to process it before contacting Support.

6. Payment Issues

Declined or expired card: If your payment fails or your card is declined, you will receive an email from Stripe prompting you to update your payment method. When you receive this:

  • Add a new payment method as soon as possible

  • Pay any outstanding invoice promptly

If an outstanding payment is not resolved it may be sent to collections. Do not ignore emails from Stripe regarding payment issues.

Other payment troubleshooting:

  • Ensure your card has sufficient funds

  • Check that your billing address matches your bank records

  • Update to the latest version of the Pickle app

  • Try adding a new card or re-entering your payment details

If the issue continues, contact Pickle Support from the item or order page.

7. Safety & Security

Pickle uses Stripe, a leading payment processor trusted across the industry, to handle all payment and banking information. Your card details are never stored directly by Pickle.
