Filing Shipping Insurance Claims

How to File a Shipping Insurance Claim (Shipsurance)

Updated yesterday

If your item was lost or damaged while being shipped, and it was covered by shipping insurance, you may be eligible to file a claim with our third-party insurance provider, Shipsurance.

Pickle partners with Shipsurance to help protect qualifying shipments, but all claims are filed directly by the item owner. This guide will walk you through everything you need to know.

Step 1: Confirm If Your Shipment Was Insured

To be eligible for a Shipsurance claim:

  • The item must have had a declared value of over $500 when listed on Pickle. In this case, insurance is automatically applied.

  • If the item did not have a declared value, it will not be automatically insured.

  • Owners may also opt-in for insurance manually for items under $500 in retail value during the offer period before shipping the item.

    • If you opted in, you will need to keep track of this yourself.

Step 2: Complete the Shipsurance Claim Form

Use the official claim form here: Shipsurance Claim Form

You’ll need the following information:

  • The tracking number(s) of your package

  • The declared value of the item

  • The shipment details, including sender and recipient info (you can use your Pickle shipping label for this)

  • A description of the missing or damaged item

  • Any evidence such as:

    • Proof of shipping

    • Delivery status or failed delivery attempt

    • Screenshots of tracking

    • Emails or messages related to the delivery

    • Photographs of damage (if applicable)

Please fill out this form thoroughly and submit it directly to Shipsurance.

Required Proof of Value

Shipsurance will typically require a store receipt that clearly shows:

  • Item name or description

  • Sale price

  • Name of retailer or store

Other types of documentation (e.g., gifting emails, authentication reports, or screenshots of resale listings) may not be accepted by Shipsurance.

To maximize your chances of approval, ensure that your receipt matches the item listed and shipped.

Important Notes

  • Shipsurance is responsible for reviewing and approving/denying all insurance claims.

  • Pickle Support can assist with instructions but does not control the outcome of your claim.

  • Filing a claim does not automatically trigger reimbursement or payout. The Shipsurance process must conclude first.

  • Pickle is not liable for unsuccessful Shipsurance claims.
