Policy on Counterfeit, Fake, and Dupe Items

Pickle is committed to maintaining trust and transparency across our platform. That includes being clear about the authenticity of items available to rent.

For Lenders

  • Full Transparency Required: If you are listing a dupe, counterfeit, inspired, or replica item of any kind, you must clearly state this in the product title or description. Acceptable terms include “dupe,” “replica,” or “inspired by [brand].”

  • Do Not Misrepresent Designers: You may not list a counterfeit or inspired item under the brand name in the Designer field. Doing so is a violation of our policies and considered misrepresentation.

  • Consequences for Misrepresentation: If a renter receives an item that is not as described (e.g. a fake listed as authentic), they are eligible for a full refund. As a lender, you may also face the following:

    • Loss of Star Lender status

    • Temporary or permanent listing restrictions

    • Required removal or correction of the listing

  • Authenticity & Replacements: In cases of loss or damage, Pickle will only provide a replacement if the item is authentic. We do not replace or reimburse counterfeit, fake, or dupe items.

    • You may be asked to provide proof of authenticity (e.g. original receipt, brand certificate, or other documentation) if a replacement claim is submitted.

For Renters

  • You’re Protected: If you rent an item that turns out to be counterfeit or a dupe without being clearly disclosed, this qualifies as “Item Not as Described” and you are eligible for a full refund. Please be prepared to report to support why you believe that an item is inauthentic.
