How Reviews Work on Pickle

Updated this week

Reviews help keep the Pickle community safe, transparent, and fun. They give renters and lenders helpful insight into each other’s past experiences and help everyone feel confident when choosing who to rent from or lend to. Here's everything you need to know about how reviews work on Pickle.

When and How You Can Leave a Review

After a rental is complete, a pop-up will appear in the Pickle app inviting you to leave a review.
Both the renter and the owner can review each other, including details like:

  • How the item fit

  • The rental experience

  • Communication and reliability

Leaving a review is optional — you can exit the review window by tapping the X in the top right corner.

If you don’t leave a review right away, you can always go back later.
Just visit the Offers tab → Past Offers → select the rental → and leave a review whenever you're ready.

Your Review Score

All of your reviews — both as a renter and an owner — work together to form your overall rating.

  • Reviews are rated out of 5 stars

  • Your overall score helps other users decide whether they feel comfortable renting from you or lending to you

  • Reviews do not currently impact Star Lender status

A lower review isn’t the end of the world — ratings improve quickly as you complete more rentals and receive more positive reviews.

Are Reviews Final?

In most cases, yes — reviews are final.
However, Pickle will remove retaliatory reviews in limited situations to keep the system fair.

You may dispute a review only if you are an owner and the reviewer:

  • Returned the item late and was charged late fees

  • Returned the item damaged

  • Did not return the item at all

These are the only scenarios where Support will review and potentially remove a rating.

To dispute a review, simply message Pickle Support through the Help button in the app.

A Note on Community Etiquette

Pickle reviews exist to help others, not to punish.
If you didn’t have the best experience, it’s always better to leave an honest, calm, and constructive review — not one written out of frustration or spite.

Thoughtful reviews help everyone in the community have better experiences moving forward.
