A note on sentimental or high-value items: We strongly recommend not listing items that are irreplaceable or sentimental to you. If something is lost or damaged, replacements and payouts are based on the item's current resale value — not its emotional or original retail worth. If an item is truly priceless to you, keep it in your personal collection.

For items valued over $500, keep your receipts and proof of purchase before listing. Without documentation, your Replacement Value Payout may be capped.

Listing Best Practices

Photos

  • Always include photos of you or a friend wearing the item — listings with on-body photos rent significantly more often than those without

  • Include front, back, and detail shots

  • Add close-ups of any wear or imperfections — honesty builds trust and protects you from disputes

  • Retail or model photos alone are not enough

Title

  • Always include the brand name and item name

  • Rat and Boa Adrianna Dress

  • Pretty green dress

Description

  • Include size (and note if it fits differently than the tag)

  • Include color, fabric, seasonality, and condition

  • Add fit notes — your height, whether it runs small or large, bodycon vs. relaxed, etc.

  • Disclose all wear, alterations, or repairs upfront

Sending out an item that is not as described can result in a refund to the renter, and you may be liable for delivery and return costs.

Declare Accurate Retail Value: Always declare the correct retail value when listing. This is used for courier and carrier insurance claims — you cannot update it after a loss and have it count toward coverage. Note that items over $2,000 are not eligible for courier insurance, and items over $10,000 cannot be shipped.

Closet Management Best Practices

Keep items ready to wear Every item you send out must be:

  • Clean and fresh

  • Neatly folded into a bag the renter can use for their return

  • Exactly as described, including correct sizing

You are responsible for cleaning items after every rental. Include your cleaning costs in your rental price — do not charge renters separately for standard dry cleaning unless costs go beyond normal (e.g. a large red wine stain). If you require dry cleaning, you must communicate this to the renter personally before delivery — adding it to your bio only is not sufficient.

Communication

  • Respond to messages and offers as quickly as possible

  • If you are traveling or unavailable, set your availability in the app: go to your Closet tab → settings gear icon → Manage Availability

  • Try to be flexible with delivery and return timing when you can

Avoid cancellations

Cancellations are disappointing for renters and can impact your standing on the platform. If you do need to cancel after accepting, always send the renter a personal message to explain.

Condition Reports

Always complete a condition report before sending an item out and again when it is returned. This is your most important protection tool if a damage or loss dispute arises. Claims require photos and documentation — condition reports make this easy.

Profile

  • Add a clear profile photo

  • Write a friendly bio (e.g. "Welcome to my closet! Feel free to make me an offer and message me anytime!")

  • Link your social media profiles

  • A complete, personable profile builds trust with renters

Pricing Tips

  • Price rentals at 10–20% of the retail price — start on the lower end and increase if you see high demand

  • You can counter any offer a renter submits

  • If you drop the price on a listing, saved users are automatically notified — great for driving quick rentals

  • You can offer a discount on a specific item or your entire closet

  • For sale listings, we recommend at least a 10% discount from retail price, even for lightly worn items, for the best chance of a sale
